ABOUT

SAILING. RACING. 'OHANA. COMMUNITY.

HYC is a historic club established in 1901 and is among the oldest and most prestigious clubs in Hawaii. The Club is located within the Ala Wai Harbor at the edge of Waikiki on the Island of Oahu. In the spirit of where we live, the club is a true gathering place. The club offers a variety of social events, educational and recreational programs, a full bar and galley, an exclusive Ships Store, and activities such as the famous "Friday Night Races," hosted by Hawaii Yacht Club for over 80 years.

HISTORY

King David Kalakaua is said to have inspired the creation of the club that today is known as Hawaii Yacht Club. The club was officially chartered in 1901 by Prince Kuhio and Prince David 10 years after King Kalakaua's passing. Hawaii Yacht Club found its first home at Pearl Harbor in the beautiful Waipio Peninsula in 1917.  The country getaway for many traditional kama'aina families, Waipio became a vacation home far away from busy Honolulu.

We continue our strong commitment to excellence and quality service. Members and guests enjoy first-class dining with a stunning oceanfront view and the gorgeous Magic Island sunset while enjoying a fresh cocktail.
