Hawaii Yacht Club Offshore Fishing Fleet
Purpose
To foster friendly competition and boating skills among members and guests,
and to promote interest in the Hawaii Yacht Club.
HYC Club Fishing Rules
- Mitchs Sushi and Senoritas will have their own set of rules
- Jungle rules: no line size, multiple anglers, handlining is OK
- Live or dead bait is allowed, no live bait in baitwells before the start
- No bang sticks, guns, or harpoons are to be used
- Birds under 12 in length are legal, no green or blue sticks
- Sailboats may pull lines from their backstays or running rigging
- No bottom fishing, but jigging is allowed with or without bait
- No mutilation rule, large fish may be cut to fit into the fish box or to
transport
- HYC members: keep July and Nov. 2 day catches separate, cut top tip of tail
fin
- Minimum weights: marlin 30 lbs, spearfish 20 lbs., 10 lbs. for mahi, ono,
ahi, aku, kawakawa, uku, ulua, rainbow runner, kaku
- Protests: limited to the day of the event, RC Power to decide
Conditions for Events
- Skippers meeting: To be held at 6 pm Thursday, the week before the
event
- Entry fees: $100 for club events (excludes Mitchs and Senoritas)
- Eligibility: Open to all members and non-member boats
- Entry deadlines: A $20 late entry fee will be charged.
- Cancellations: Money will be returned less $10.
- Minimum entries: None
- Prizes: for HYC club events, all entry monies will be paid out with no retention
- Fishing times: 12:01 am until 5:00 pm of the last day.
- Finish line: Ala Wai fuel dock
- Conditions: You may start from any harbor, but must come by water to the
HYC
- Seasons points: For HYC members only, best 8 out of 11 days fishing
- Event Cancellation: gale warnings
- All skippers are responsible for their decision to fish and crew safety,
not the HYC

- Cockeyed Mayor of Kaunakakai: July 16-17, 2011
- Aloha Memorial Tournament (memorial for past members): August 20, 2011
- HYC Wahines Tournament: September 17, 2011
- Do or Die Tournament: November 12-13, 2011
